Training partner!

My good friend, Adam Taylor, was in town today, so we headed over to the gym at 6:30am and put in a great workout.

I normally train alone, but there are so many benefits of having a training partner:

  • Someone to spot you on exercises
  • Someone to help you push past your limits
  • It keeps you on track and motivated! You’re less likely to miss a session!
  • There’s an added benefit of having someone watch your form and point out the quirks you don’t even realize you have :)

This morning’s workout definitely helped me push past a plateau on ‘chest’, by utilizing forced reps and drop sets – and having someone force you to do ‘TWO MORE!!’ (nice one Adam! lol).

Squat rack FAIL

Oh dear!!!

So, it was first thing this morning, the gym had just opened and as normal I was the first one in, racing to the rack to secure my place. The bar was set up high on the rack, as usual, with an assortment of odd weights on either side, because someone was too lazy to put them back where they belong! This is a pretty common event, so in my haze of waking up, I went to one side of the bar and began unloading the weight. Continue reading
